El ministro de Justicia, Mariano Cúneo Libarona, aseguró que el menor gasto fue posible gracias a la contratación en el sector privado de las placas que hasta ahora imprimía la Casa de la Moneda. “La casta política interrumpía la producción”, acusó.
Los retrasos en la impresión de chapas patente causaron problemas en la inscripción de nuevos vehículos.
El ministro de Justicia, Mariano Cúneo Libarona, informó que el Estado ahorró algo más de $ 3.100 millones gracias a la contratación en el sector privado del servicio de provisión e impresión de chapas patente para motos y automóviles. Esa tarea estaba en manos de la Casa de la Moneda hasta su intervención con fines de liquidación, en octubre de 2024.
“Establecimos un sistema de licitaciones abiertas en el que cualquier empresa puede competir para proveer estos servicios. Esto garantiza bienes de mejor calidad, a precios más bajos y en menos tiempo”, informó Cúneo Libarona en su cuenta en la red social X.
Allí también contó que “en esta primera licitación logramos un ahorro trimestral total de $ 3.101.997.610”, cifra cercana a los tres millones de dólares.
La adjudicación de ese servicio a empresas privadas intenta paliar los severos retrasos que se venían produciendo desde hace alrededor de un año y que obligó a tomar una medida extrema: habilitar a los vehículos recién dados de alta a circular con patentes provisorias de papel hasta que se normalizara la provisión de plascas metálicas.
Del mismo modo, y con carácter excepcional, el Gobierno acordó con las autoridades de los países limítrofes que los vehículos argentinos con patentes provisorias emitidas en papel, que tengan en trámite las definitivas que se emiten en metal, puedan circular en Uruguay, Brasil, Paraguay y Chile. Asimismo habilitó la validez legal de la documentación del vehículo almacenada en la aplicación Mi Argentina, para que pueda ser exhibida ante los organismos de control de tránsito, ante el retraso en la impresión de las credenciales plásticas correspondientes.

Imprimía billetes, pasaportes y patentes: por qué intervinieron la Casa de la Moneda
La Casa de la Moneda fue el organismo que históricamente imprimió documentación para el Banco Central y el Gobierno argentino. Allí se confeccionaban billetes, documentos de identidad, pasaportes y también los certificados que acreditan la propiedad y los permisos de circulación para motos y vehículos, incluyendo las placas de metal.
En octubre de 2024, durante el acelerado proceso de ajuste fiscal llevado a cabo por el gobierno de Javie Milei, la Casa de la Moneda fue intervenida. A través del decreto 964/24 se dispuso que Pedro Cavagnaro quedara al frente de ella y que priorizara la impresión de billetes de 10 mil y 20 mil pesos, por sí o a través de terceros, descartando toda otra tarea.
Entre otras disposiciones, la norma encomendaba al interventor “revisar el régimen de contrataciones de obras, bienes y servicios de la sociedad y/o aprobar uno nuevo”, lo que habilitaba el cese de la producción y las consiguientes convocatorias al sector privado para esas tareas. También habilitó la realización de auditorías internas, cuyo resultado debe ser informado al Ministerio de Economía, y la elaboración de un plan de “reformulación, readecuación y acción para la sociedad”.
